Swedish Massage

The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles. This is achieved by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones by rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. The main purpose of Swedish Massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.

Swedish Massage shortens the recovery time caused by muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid and other metabolic waste. This increases circulation without increasing the load on the heart and stretches ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable.

Swedish Massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system, while at the same time soothing the nerves. Swedish Massage feels good and is both relaxing and invigorating. It has beneficial affects on the muscles, glands, nerves and circulation while promoting health and vitality.

Aromatherapy Treatment

There are many benefits of Aromatherapy Massage, both physical and emotional, as well as being spiritual and energising. On a physical level, the different massage strokes relieve pain, increase circulation of the blood, help to eliminate toxins and ease tired and tense muscles.

Aromatherapy has a powerful effect on the nervous system. The essential oils can reduce or eliminate pain, reduce anxiety levels,  alleviate muscle spasm / tension and promote general feelings of calm and overall well-being. The scent of the oils has a soothing effect on our mind and feelings.

The action of the essential oils on the mind is complex and subtle. The oils tend to balance and normalise the body rather than just stimulate or sedate it. These oils have a complementary affinity with certain parts of the body, mind and emotions.

Remedial Massage works with the whole physical body, improving your whole health, not just the parts being treated. Otherwise known as deep tissue or sports massage it loosens up tight muscles, breaks up adhesions in muscle fibres and focuses on restoring and maintaining full muscle function to help them perform better and prevent injury. Muscle injuries will often heal more effectively with the help of sports massage.

Remedial Massage  works by increasing the blood flow and reducing pain to speed up the body’s natural healing process. Callisthenics, breathing and stretching, and stimulating pressure points are also part of a Remedial Massage.

Reflexology Treatments

Reflexology, also referred to as compression massage of the feet, helps to activate the body’s own healing resources. It has been used like Acupuncture in China for 5,000 years, and over the last 20 years has become an established form of natural healing.

Reflexology creates a sensation of well being and this alone can give respite to many symptoms, by reducing tension in the body people are able to approach and deal with stress and anxiety in a more positive manner.

Pin point massage has a dynamic effect on the body in the way it can relax tension, improve nerve and blood supply and restore balance to the body.
